The Catholic Renewal Center (CRC)
The Catholic Renewal Center has been an important center of faith, social and civic activities. The center serves also as a source of renewal in the sacramental life of the Church. The Catholic Renewal Center is the central building of community for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lubbock.
The Catholic Renewal Center works to foster opportunities for Diocesan events which support the spiritual enhancement, educational development, leadership formation and discipleship of all God’s People.
The Mercy Retreat Center
Mercy Retreat Center is a gift from the Sisters of Mercy of the Union whose Motherhouse is in St. Louis, Missouri. The Sisters gave the four story hospital, 26-room convent, and the spacious acreage to the diocese in 1987. The hospital and grounds are now part of the retreat ministry which has been based in the former convent since 1980.
It is served by an executive director, appointed by Bishop Placido Rodriguez, CMF. The center hosts the Diocesan ACTS Retreat Ministry, the Ecumenical Walk to Emmaus retreats for the Llano Estacado Community, Engaged Encounters, marriage enrichment weekends, Confirmation preparation retreats, parish retreats, clergy and religious study days, various community gatherings, family reunions, and much more.
The Mercy Center is located in Slaton, TX, at 1225 West Division(approximately 3.5 blocks east of Highway 84 on Division). The Center can accomodate up to 100 guests (double occupancy rooms), and also provides a conference room seating 60, a beautiful chapel, an enclosed patio, two dining rooms, a full kitchen, and a large prayer/meditation garden.
Mercy Center is supported by retreat fees, private gifts, and the Annual Catholic Offering for Ministries.
